Monday August 14 Finding Boreas Pond

A three mile drive, then a three mile walk along a rough dirt road took us into Boreas Pond, a newly acquired body of water for the ADK from The Nature Conservancy.  There's no way to get a boat into there except on hoof (human or horse) so we just decided to see what the hype was all about and if it would be worth the effort to get a boat in there to paddle around. Turns out it would be. The pond and the views were beautiful.

The road in is called Gulf Brook Road.  It's mostly flat and is almost 100% in the woods.

The High Peaks are front and center at Boreas Pond

A White Throated Sparrow hopped and sang in the nearby woods

We ate lunch on a rock in the river flowing out of the pond, and enjoyed an after lunch nap.
